Character Name: Adam Jensen
Age: 34
Canon: Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Appearance:
Following augmentations, Jensen's physical appearance has changed massively. Most noticeable are his arms and legs which are both no longer flesh and bone, but instead mechanical, cybernetic limbs made of a black nanocarbon metal. He also has a number of screws along his collarbone as well as a short bar sticking out of his neck on either side, all of these are likely connected to his hidden augments.
His face hasn't escaped the tell-tales signs of augmentation either. On the side of both eyes he has the frames from which the lenses for his head-mounted sunglasses slide out - and his eyes themselves are no longer their natural blue-gray, but instead an incredibly noticeable yellow-orange. His left eye has a scar across it, which cuts through his eyebrow, leaving a bald patch. Above that, there is a hexagonal indent in his forehead. His hair is kept brushed back up away from his face and his beard and goatee are kept carefully trimmed.
Jensen's almost always wears his uniform; black body armour and a pair of black combats with various belts for equipment. Over that, he is normally wearing his trademark high collared trench coat, which has a faint design over the shoulders that is more noticeable when the light shines on it in a certain way.
Personality: Adam's personality was largely what doomed his future in SWAT. After the apparent death of his commander, Adam powered through the ranks of his team. He was well liked, even admired by a lot of his team - and this hasn't stopped, he is still admired by those he worked with and also those he works with now.
Even despite scolding about his tendency to do so, Jensen shot only when he felt it was entirely necessary. The Mexicantown Massacre was what finished his career in the force - he refused to obey a command kill a young, augmented boy. And this hasn't changed. Despite his apparent cold and unemotional exterior, in his time as a security officer at Sarif Industries, he has opted to avoid killing people as much as possible, much more likely to knock them out or sneak past them to get where he needs to be, or do what he needs to.
When in confrontations, under most circumstances he prefers to negotiate or employ any other method - however underhanded, such as the use of his C.A.S.I.E implant - which would ultimately lead to a peaceful solution. He'll make threats, but not always act on them. Bloodshed is almost always the final option.
That doesn't mean there aren't situations where he will kill, if he deems it the right thing to do. For example, when in Hengsha the first time, Jensen is asked to take out an underworld kingpin forcing prostitutes to get augmentations - he knocks the man out and throws him over the side of a building, making it look like a suicide, and has no problems doing this at all. He has also vowed to kill the people responsible for the kidnap of the Sarif Scientists.
Which leads nicely onto the next point. Jensen holds a grudge, especially when people he cares about are involved. After the attack at Sarif Industries, he has no qualms with getting straight back into the action despite taking only six months off to recover; especially not following the discovery that the attack is part of a bigger, deeper conspiracy. He is driven by revenge and he pursues the case with an almost terrifying fervour, determined to find the people responsible and exact his own kind of justice on them. He still manages to reign in his need for revenge when dealing with civilians and others caught up in the conspiracy without knowing, but that doesn't mean all the innocents are saved - there is innocent blood on his hands for which he feels remorse.
Jensen quit the force with a problem with authority and a dislike for working with others. If he worked alone, his actions would have no consequences for anyone but himself and he wouldn't have to watch anyone's back - a huge reason why the job as head of security at Sarif Industries suited him so well. Sure, he was the head of a team, but he was the only one sent on important missions; he has even been referred to as Sarif's Guard-dog.
And it's lucky that Sarif has such faith in him, as while he trusts Sarif to a certain degree, he doesn't always agree with his boss. He will question him if he's being ordered to do something he doesn't agree with and he will argue with his boss. If he can't convince his boss otherwise, Jensen will even disobey orders and do things the way he thinks they should be done. Luckily, Sarif often delegates to him when it comes to most things, especially matters of whether to use lethal or non-lethal methods during a mission.
It's not just his boss that has to deal with his attitude. Jensen can be rather standoffish, particularly when it comes to people who treat him in the same way as Pritchard does. While he and Pritchard share a sort of rivalry and he can tolerate the man to an extent, Jensen doesn't take kindly to strangers treating him in the same way; especially not insults to his intelligence, though insults in general he takes with a pinch of salt. He has a very dry, sarcastic type of humour - when it raises it's head.
Adam is - perhaps not surprisingly - torn between whether or not augmentation is the right thing. He doesn't deny that it saved his life or that it comes in handy, and is giving him the chance to get revenge on the people who kidnapped Megan and the other scientists, but he certainly doesn't like the idea of it being forced on people who don't need it. Nor does he like that companies are making a lot of money out of sales of Neuropozyne to people who needed but didn't necessarily want augments.
Amongst people who know him, it isn't very well known that Jensen has a bit of a soft spot for the ladies. Megan Reed, his ex-girlfriend is one of the few people he has shown true feelings of love to, so much so that he quits smoking for her, (though he starts again ten years after quitting following her kidnapping, but doesn't taking any pleasure in it any more as, thanks to his new sentinal health implant, "Self destruction's no fun any more.") - and perhaps the fact that she broke his heart is part of why he is so shut off. That doesn't mean he doesn't flirt with the ladies though.
Jensen has a short tryst with a British woman named Katrina Sutherland, who sacrifices herself in order to save Jensen. He blames himself, even cries following her death, proving he really does have emotions. Does it also show that he got over Megan? Not likely, since he continues the search for his, vowing to get to the bottom of the puzzle and even kill the people responsible - in fact what happens to Katrina may have reinforced that need. It should be mentioned, that he's also not above flirting with the ladies to get what he wants from them, especially important information.

I'm also including the comic as part of his history. I couldn't find a summary so~
The comics take place between the fight against Barrett and the trip to Hengsha. The comics start while Jensen is on a mission to rescue Sarif's niece, who has been kidnapped by the Russian Mafia. After successfully saving her, he is sent to track a lead on the hacker who committed suicide during the attempt to steal the Typhoon system. He goes to Montreal where he encounters Katrina Sutherland. The two of them had been set up by the hacker's boss in hopes that they would kill each other, a plan which fails. But their enemy had a backup plan.
Jensen and Katrina are attacked by a group headed by a heavily augmented and armoured man, who turns out to be Jensen's former commander from SWAT, Quincy Durant. After the ensuing struggle, Quincy escapes and Jensen returns to Sarif with Katrina.
It is revealed that Quincy received augments after a fight against an aug back while Jensen was in SWAT, and he became power hungry, gradually crazy. At the Mexicantown riots, Jensen and Quincy's teams were involved in a shoot-out that contributed to Jensen quitting the force.
A number of scientists connected with Sarif Industries are taken out by Quincy and his group of radicals, and Jensen only just manages to save Doctor Marcovic after another confrontation with his former commander.
In a short respite, Jensen and Katrina have sex in the shower before jetting off to Britain. Katrina announces that she'll be staying behind when Jensen returns with Sarif, effectively ending their relationship before it even starts, but Katrina's farewell doesn't end there. Katrina is caught off guard and captured by Quincy who straps her to a bomb. When Jensen arrives to save her, Quincy reveals that the bomb is not only motion sensitive but is also linked to his neural implants; if he dies, so does she. Quincy makes Jensen put his gun to his own head and almost gets him to kill himself, but Katrina sacrifices herself in order for Jensen to kill Quincy once and for all.
Jensen then returns to Detroit before being sent to Hengsha.
Canon point: Shortly after arriving in Hengsha for the second time. After getting the brain chip before going to the Harvester's hideout. From this point because I'm cruel and want to have him taken shortly after finding a promising lead to the scientist's location. It also means I can have him wake up thinking he's waking up after the surgery to place the chip in and freak the fuck out when he realises he's not inKansas China anymore.
Special Abilities: Adam has a number of mechanical augmentations:
△ Combat nanoceramic blade
△ Cybernetic arms
△ Head-mounted sunglasses
△ Retinal prosthesis
△ Infolink
△ Heart and pericardium implants
The abilities each of these allow to him were locked during his six month recovery in order to not overload his brain. As Jensen heals mentally and adapts to them or installs upgrade software, he unlocks the abilities of his augments. At this point, Jensen has the following abilities:
△ Wayfinder Radar System, which allows him to keep track of enemies etc through a radar in his retinal prosthesis. Following initial augmentation, Jensen had access to this already and simply upgraded the distance the radar works over.
△ Infolink, which allows him to send and receive audio and visual messages without generating actual sounds. Fully upgraded from start.
△ C.A.S.I.E, which allows him to view information about people during communication and even release pheromones to influence another's emotions and thus sometimes their decisions.
△ Smart Vision and Retinal Prosthesis allows him, through his Eye-Known retinal implants and micro-thermograph upgrades, to see through low density objects - this requires energy consumption. The retinal implants also allow projection of a user HUD with medical and inventory information, as well as a flash suppressant which prevents temporary blindness from sources of sudden bright light, such as Flash Grenades.
△ Cybernetic Arm Prosthesis, these have some abilities, but still many to unlock. The unlocked ones are: Instant Take-Down, Punch Through Wall, Move/Throw Heavy Objects and all carrying capacity upgrades.
△ Sentinel Health System, which keeps his short-term health in check. Another fully upgraded augment from the start.
△ Sarif Energy Converter, allows him to maximise energy supplied to augments which require it. Fully upgraded.
△ Back enhancements, Jensen has both the Icarus Landing System and the Quicksilver Reflex Booster.
△ Cloaking System, which allows Jensen to remain invisible for a few seconds at a time.
△ The Hermes 2027 Cybernetic Leg Prosthesis, currently has the jump and silent run enhancement.
He also has a number of hacking upgrades that allow him to hack systems with high security (level 5 in game), and do so stealthily with less chance of being detected by the system.

First Person:
Third Person: Sarif might have warned him that he'd be expected upon arrival in Hengsha, but Jensen hadn't quiet expected the welcome party he'd arrived to. He'd barely been able to ensure Malik had been able to pull out with the VTOL before it was destroyed, taking her with it. Maybe it had been a bad idea to try save her, but there was no chance he was letting anyone else die on his clock, especially not the pilot that had gotten him everywhere he needed to be. Even if he didn't have a heart, he wouldn't have let her die just so he wouldn't have had to listen to Pritchard taunt him about it - sometimes he hated that man.
The Belltower strike team had been a tougher challenge than he'd thought when he'd jumped out of the aircraft - not that one of them having a damn rocket launcher had helped, never mind the mech. Still, he'd managed just fine, and no-one had been killed. He wasn't entirely sure why he'd let the assholes live, but he put it down to wanting to believe they were just following orders; heck, even if that wasn't it, at least Malik got away.
Or maybe, he'd thought that saving the female pilot would have turned his day around. If only. It wasn't long after taking the elevator to street level that he felt the first burst from the glitch in his augments. The screech from his brain implants was worse than his eyesight messing up - that he was used to. He thanked whatever higher power there was that he still had his own strength under all the augmentations as he watched civilians drop to their knees.
When Pritchard's voice came over, he couldn't help but roll his eyes. Sure, he'd just been kicking back and watching the news instead of following the first good lead they'd gotten since this whole crazy goose chase had started. The computer geek's advice wasn't exactly the best, but he knew one thing - he couldn't work with the glitches. The L.I.M.B clinic wasn't far from where he was, so he headed there as fast as he could, counting himself lucky that Belltower weren't cordoning off the clinic like they were every other establishment in Lower Hengsha.
It was a almost routine, getting the new replacement biochip. Go under, wake up and take a few to recover and then get back to work. Only when he woke up, he most certainly wasn't in the clinic. In fact, he had no idea where he was
"Dammit Pritchard, you ass, this better not be a prank. Pritchard? Dammit!"
